Explora Journeys reveals two new Winter 2027–28 collections aboard EXPLORA I and EXPLORA V.
Explora Journeys has added two new Journey Collections to its Northern Winter 2027–2028 season, with EXPLORA I sailing South America‘s Southern Hemisphere summer and EXPLORA V‘s inaugural voyages across the Mediterranean and Atlantic Islands.
The new collections join a programme already spanning EXPLORA II and EXPLORA IV in the Caribbean and EXPLORA III in Asia, rounding out a dual-hemisphere season across the line’s five-ship fleet.
For a still-young luxury line building out its itinerary footprint, the expansion signals confidence in both established winter-sun markets and less-charted year-round destinations.
EXPLORA I: South America’s Summer Season
From December 2027 to March 2028, EXPLORA I traces Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, the Falkland Islands and Chile, unveiling 20 maiden destinations — 12 of them in Brazil. Five overnight stays in Buenos Aires, Puerto Madryn and Rio de Janeiro extend port time, alongside eight late departures from cities including Balneário Camboriú, Port Stanley and Maceió.
Guests can spend Christmas at sea and ring in the New Year off Rio’s seafront before the itinerary sweeps south toward Patagonia, linking Montevideo, the Beagle Channel, Puerto Williams, Punta Arenas and Cape Horn amid glaciers and fjords.
EXPLORA V: Mediterranean and Atlantic Islands
EXPLORA V‘s first season, running December 2027 to April 2028, unfolds in three chapters: the Western and Central Mediterranean and North Africa in the opening weeks, the Atlantic Islands from January, and a return to the Mediterranean in March. A maiden call to Crotone opens Calabria to guests, while late departures in Salerno, Livorno, Palma de Mallorca, Kotor and Ibiza extend evenings ashore, and an overnight in Istanbul allows time in the bazaars after dark.
In addition, Pauillac offers access to Bordeaux’s wine estates, and Christmas at sea and New Year’s Eve off Naples — with the city’s fireworks visible from the open decks — offer an exciting climax to the holiday season sailings. The itinerary then turns to the Atlantic, with volcanic hikes from Los Cristianos in Tenerife, the terraced hillsides of Madeira, and overnight stays in Casablanca and Lisbon.
For Asia-based travellers, the two collections extend Explora Journeys’ reach well beyond EXPLORA III‘s existing Asia season, giving guests in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok or Tokyo a longer-haul, winter-sun alternative in South America or a softer, off-peak read on the Mediterranean — both positioned as shoulder-season counterpoints to summer sailings closer to home.
