Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has unveiled seven reimagined riverside suites, pairing floor-to-ceiling Ayung River views with handcrafted Balinese detail and a sustainability-led redesign.
There’s a reason Sayan has always felt less like a hotel and more like an extension of the valley it sits in — the suspended rice-bowl architecture practically dares the jungle to come inside. Now, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has leaned further into that idea, unveiling seven newly reimagined suites where the river is never more than a floor-to-ceiling window away.
The Forbes Five-Star resort is welcoming guests into the first of its transformed riverside accommodations: five Premier Duplex Suites and two Premier Family Suites, developed in partnership with Hirsch Bedner Associates as part of the sustainability-led refresh, announced earlier this year, that promises to be less a renovation than a reweighting, with the existing architectural framework optimised and refurbished rather than rebuilt, cutting demand for new materials. Next-generation, environmentally responsible air conditioning and energy-efficient LED lighting have also been applied throughout the resort to help it stay green.
The Premier Duplex Suite is built for lingering; at 85 square meters across two levels, it features a a light-washed living and dining area opening onto full-height river views, and a bedroom upstairs layered in dark-stained teak and hand-loomed textiles. A private sun terrace catches both ends of the day, with the Ayung River below supplying the only soundtrack.
Meanwhile, The Premier Family Suite, positioned in the resort’s main building near the restaurants and Sacred River Spa, takes a different approach, with a kids’ room paired with a generous living area and the same sweeping valley views.
Every palette in the new suites takes its cue from what the windows frame: pale, earthy tones drawn from Ubud’s rice terraces, grounded by that dark teak, with LUTRON smart-lighting systems tucked quietly out of sight.
“These suites represent everything Sayan has always stood for — pioneering design in profound harmony with nature,” says Didier Jardin, general manager of Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan. “Waking up in one of them, with the river below and the valley all around, is a uniquely Sayan experience. This is a new era for Sayan, and we can’t wait to share it.”
For a resort that’s long argued architecture and nature don’t have to compete, this latest chapter makes the case better than most.
